SACEM joins the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM)
SACEM (Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Éditeurs de Musique) is committed to electronic music. On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at a panel discussion on electronic music at Midem, the copyright management company announced its membership in AFEM (Association for Electronic Music), an international association that protects artists in the electronic world.
In 2014, its “Get Played Get Paid” campaign enabled many festivals to adopt music recognition technology, which ensures that creators are paid when their music is played.
The reason for this membership? “Valuing electronic music at its true value and thus providing the best conditions to create,” said Jean-Noël Tronc, Executive Director of SACEM, in a press release.
For several years, the two entities have shared a common fight: to remunerate the creators of electronic music in the fairest and most equitable way possible. By becoming a member of AFEM, SACEM is taking a further step towards the recognition and institutionalization of electronic music with regard to the institution.
